The special blend of jazz, pop and chanson, combined with filmic Hungarian texts, lends a unique atmosphere to the compositions of Eszter Váczi and Quartet. Their first two albums were Platinum and Gold records in the jazz category. But it is even more important that their style captivated an audience that is not only interested in solo bravura, but also want to be part of the stories created by the texts of Eszter, in perfect harmony with the playing of the band, which nevertheless does not lack virtuosity. On 23 February, they return to Opus Jazz Club with a similarly atmospheric programme.

György Selmeczi / János Vajda Royal Highness / The Verdict World premiere
A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
