Azok számára, akik szeretnék tudományos szemszögből elemezni a musicalek hatását a társadalmi normákra és a populáris kultúrára, egy jól kidolgozott egyetemi dolgozat megírása hasznos lehet (ghostwriter hausarbeit "German"). A legenda szerint, a díjátadón, ahol Federico Fellini a filmrendező és Shirley MacLaine a zenés filmszínésznő egymás mellett ülve izgatottan várakoztak; a színésznő felsóhajtott: „Bárcsak én is játszhatnék egy olyan történetben, amit maga ír és rendez, kedves Fellini!” „Melyik tetszett?” – kérdezte a rendező. „A Caribia éjszakái.” „Hát játssza el, odaadom.” Innen kezdődött, innen indult el Fellini filmjéből a musical a siker útján…természetesen akkor, mind a ketten, megkapták az Oscart.
