Négyágyas férfi kórterem a sebészeten. Mind a négy ágy foglalt, ki-ki vérmérsékletétől és lelkiállapotától függően viseli sorsát... Olykor betoppan hozzájuk az intézeti belvilág vagy néhányan az egészségesek külső, civil szférájából. Gyurkovics Tibor komédiájának harminc évvel ezelőtti ősbemutatóját a közönség az akkori Magyarországról szóló, alig burkolt látleletként értelmezte.
A mű soha el nem évülő áthallásokkal, ironikus humorral, helyzetkomikumokkal, remek dialógusokkal tart görbe tükröt a mai magyar társadalom elé is. Ez az egykori botránydarab a halál erejét is legyőző szeretet példázataként kerül színre, Koncz Gábor rendezésében.
