The whole country knows her name and many of the world’s prominent opera houses have her name inscribed in their annales. Erika Miklósa started her career at the Hungarian State Opera at the age of 20, and she has remained loyal to the institute even in the busiest periods of her singing career. The gala to celebrate her 25-year-long career was an enormous event; the 30th anniversary was held among the restrictions of the pandemic, without an audience. Now, the coloratura soprano will meet her audience face to face on three separate occasions. This time, her directness will be paired with a special program: her storytelling will involve music that is especially important to her and that she has never sung before, accompanied by a sole piano, reflecting on the most important stations of her life with the help of a slideshow.

Featuring: Erika Miklósa

“I've captured a terrific storm of elements and of hearts which gradually calms to Brünnhilde's magic sleep,” Wagner on the score of Die Walküre, in a letter to Ferenc Liszt. Following on the heels of the introductory Das Rheingold, this opera about the tragic love between two of Wotan's children constitutes the start of the more tightly drawn dramatic trilogy. Once again, the laws of the gods clash: can paternal love save a lad who has violated the sanctity of marriage?

Bartók Béla’s two highly influential stage works explore the dynamics of the relationship between man and woman and the deeper layers of their personalities, as presented by creators who, through a fusion of tradition and innovation, reveal the possibilities inherent in these works for 21st-century audiences.
