A Marica grófnő egy ismert és népszerű slágerekkel teli szerelmes zenés vígjáték. A történetben: gróf Endrődy-Wittenberg Tasziló vagyonát elveszítve szégyenében Erdélybe menekül, majd beáll a Decsényiek ősi birtokán gazdatisztnek, Török Béla álnéven. Amikor hazaér Bécsből a birtok úrnője, Marica, félve a hozományvadászoktól, azt mondja magáról, hogy ő Zsupán Kálmán báró jegyese. Ők ketten persze egymásba szeretnek, mely hatalmas szerelmi bonyodalmakat okoz. Az operettben olyan dalok csendülnek fel, mint a Szép város Kolozsvár, a Hej, cigány, a Szent Habakuk, a Ringó vállú csengeri violám...
