Egy nõ az udvaron arról ábrándozik, milyen boldog lenne a szíve választottjával. Fidelióra gondol, arra a fiatalemberre, aki foglárnak jelentkezett, s aki egy ideje ugyancsak a börtönben él és dolgozik. A börtönparancsnok, Don Pizarro több ellensége raboskodik itt. Föltehetõleg az a Florestan is, aki Pizarro erõszakos önkényét és visszaéléseit nyilvánosan le akarta leplezni. Florestan hitvese, Leonora mindenesetre így sejti, s hogy megtalálja és megmentse férjét, férfiruhát öltve, Fidelio néven, munkára jelentkezett...

Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English.
