Molnár Ferenc a Játék a kastélyban című zseniális vígjátékában egyszerre ír szerelemről és a színpad hatalmáról. Két színműíró, Turai és Gál kedélyesen beszélgetnek új operett-bemutatójuk fiatal és tehetséges komponistájával, Ádámmal, amikor a szomszéd szobában megszálló színésznőt, Annie-t – Ádám menyasszonyát és szerelmét – hallják veszekedni a produkció egyik színészével, korábbi szerelmével. A vitából hallhatóan békülés lesz, a fiatal zeneszerző ennek hallatán pedig összeomlik. Turai tudja, hogy meg kell mentenie a fiút, és vele az operettet is. Ehhez pedig minden írói tehetségére szüksége lesz!
