Mi történik, ha egy kispolgári házaspár arisztokrata életmódra vágyik? Felbérelnek egy lakájt! Schneider úr és neje egy pillanat alatt szmokingra és estélyire váltja az otthonkát, pacal helyett lazacot esznek, operába járnak és még rengeteg furábbnál furább helyzetbe kerülnek a “rang” elérése érdekében. Hippolyt komoly fába vágja a fejszéjét, amikor ebbe a házba szerződött. Hogy sikerül-e megnevelni e két jómadarat? Kiderül!
