Jó kilenc évtizeddel később, az ezredfordulós Londonban egy független, szabad fiatal nő próbál rendet teremteni kusza magánéletében, de mellette becsülettel cipeli mások terhét: naponta birkózik magatehetetlen, ellenségeskedő anyjával és neurotikus, féltékeny barátnőjével. Mindeközben fokozatosan kapcsolatot talál elődeivel, azokkal a bizonyos múltbéli lányokkal... A Magyarországon még ismeretlen Charlotte Jones műve néhány éve nagy siker volt Londonban.
