A szülők mindent elkövetnek, hogy fiukat visszacsalják Bécsbe, hogy ott a neki megfelelő leányzót, Stázi komteszt válassza élettársául - ezért Vereczky Szilviának, a sanzonettnek New York-i szerződést intéznek. Ám a szerelmesek érdekében szövetkezik a kedves, bolondos Bóni gróf, az orfeum főpincére, Miska és ikertestvére, Alfonz, a Lippert-Weilersheim-ház főkomornikja, valamint Feri bácsi, Bóni orfeumi barátja. Főképpen ő mozgatja a szálakat: a pár jövőjének érdekében még egykori szerelmét, Edvin édesanyját is hajlandó leleplezni…

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.

Following on the heels of the introductory Das Rheingold, this opera about the tragic love between two of Wotan's children constitutes the start of the more tightly drawn dramatic trilogy. Once again, the laws of the gods clash: can paternal love save a lad who has violated the sanctity of marriage?
