Az eredeti produkciót 1999-ben mutatták be New York-ban a Lincoln Centerben, majd a Broadway-n és több mint ezer előadást ért meg. A zene modern rockzenéből és klasszikusokból áll - Csajkovszkij, Bizet, Grieg és mások műveiből. A londoni West Enden 2002-ben a Queen's Theatre-ben mutatták be. A Madách Színház a Contact-ot Susan Stroman eredeti koreográfiájával mutatja be. A szereplők kiválasztása meghívásos meghallgatás után történt. Az előadásban színre lépnek a Madách Színház színművészei, táncművészei, a Magyar Állami Operaház balett együttesének vezető művészei, valamint a KFKI Kamarabalett tagjai. Susan Stroman színházi-, és filmrendező, koreográfus és előadóművész. Ezzel a produkcióval elnyerte a legjobb musicalért járó Tony-díjat. Egyéb munkáiért további 13 díjat kapott.
