Georges Bizet operájának Rogyion Scsedrin készítette el balettszvit-változatát. Már az eredeti mű is feszegette az érzéki erotika témájának határait, Scsedrin változatát pedig, annak túlfűtött erotikája miatt, az 1960-as években be is tiltották. Carmen a független női lélek megtestesítője. A Kecskemét City Balett Barta Dóra koreográfiájával megalkotta saját változatát a démoni nő, a femme fatale alaptípusáról, megtartva az opera eredeti főszereplőit és konfliktusait.
