Babaróka a történet kezdetén hároméves, és éppen óvodába (vagy ahogy Rókáéknál mondani szokás: kölyökőrzőbe) készül. Milyen lesz egész nap a kölyökőrzőben lenni Mamaróka nélkül? Lesznek Babarókának barátai? Egyáltalán hogyan kell barátkozni? A bájos és humoros történetek mind egy-egy ismerős konfliktus és annak feloldása köré szerveződnek: szorongás az új társaságban, játék a nagyobbakkal, hiszti a boltban, családi súrlódások, költözés, kistestvér születése. A mese komolyan veszi a kisgyerekkor egyszerű és mégis bonyolult kérdéseit, miközben megmutatja, ahogy egy kisróka számára lassan kinyílik a világ.
