A férfi arra riad az éjszaka közepén, hogy talán infarktust kapott. Számot vet életével, és a mellette édesdeden alvó feleségében találja meg elhibázott életének minden okát. És lám, a felesége most is csak alszik, nem törődik vele. Mérgében letaszítja az ágyról. És dönt: ha mégse halna meg, akkor elköltözik, új életet kezd, új asszonyt keres, amíg nem késő. Az elhatározást azonban nem tettek követik, hanem elkezdődik a sírni- és nevetnivaló küzdelem a két egymásra utalt ember között.
