Shaffer nem dokumentumok alapján, hanem Puskin: Mozart és Salieri című drámatöredékéből kiindulva, a saját fantáziájából alkotta meg a két rivális zeneszerző történetét 1981-ben. Puskin szövegéből Rimszkij-Korszakov írt operát. Shaffer leleményes darabjának fordulatait eredeti Mozart-zene festi alá a Szöktetés a Szerájból, a Varázsfuvolából, a Figaro házasságából, a Don Giovanniból és a Requiemből.
A szorgalmas, törtető, irigy középszer és az isteni tehetséggel megáldott gyenge jellemű zseni romantikus szembeállítása bármely korban és társadalmi helyzetben sikerre tarthat számot. A sors végül mindenkit elpusztít, áskálódó intrikust és naiv áldozatot egyaránt. A művészet diadala csak az utókort boldogítja.
A színdarab Magyarországon a THEATRUM MUNDI Színházi és Irodalmi Ügynökség közvetítésével kerül színre.

Set in the Roman Empire around 74 BC, Spartacus was László Seregi's first true full-length ballet, which at one stroke became a milestone in Hungarian dance life. Since 1968, one generation after another has enjoyed the historically themed choreography, which treats the story of the ancient slave revolt in such a way that its true message is not the rebellion itself, but rather human emotions and choices under pressure.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances.
