Elsőként egy tökéletes Mozart-kompozícióval: az 1788 nyarán keletkezett drámai hangvételű „Nagy” g-moll szimfónia egyes pillanataiban mintha már a romantika, sőt a modern zene hangját előlegezné. A folytatásban Dvořák nagyszabású VIII. szimfóniája csendül fel, amely – jóllehet talán kevésbé ismert – zenei anyagának gazdagsága, a kidolgozás mesteri tökéletessége alapján joggal sorakozik a rákövetkező, felülmúlhatatlanul népszerű „Az Új világból”-szimfónia mellé. A hangversenyt Rajna Martin vezető karmester dirigálja.
