Mint a darab műfaji megjelöléséből is rögtön kiderül: egy krimiről van szó, hátborzongató gyilkosságról, ami egy milliomos házában történt. A bűnügyet felderíteni kívánó vizsgálóbíró Camille Sevigné fiatal pályakezdő, tapasztalatlan és kellő rutin nélkül lát munkához. Viszont nagy az ambíciója, szeretne feljebb lépni a hivatali ranglétrán. A címszereplő bolond lányról azonban kiderül, hogy nem visel bugyit és féktelenül jókedvű, valamint zavarbaejtően szókimondó, nem könnyíti meg a vizsgálóbíró dolgát. A darab - mindenütt nagy sikert aratva - bejárta a világ különböző országainak színpadait.
