The most important musical events ofthe reformed congregations in the Carpathian Basin, the concert of reformed hymns has been organised, as a church service, since 2002 with the aim of performing and recording our national treasure of the reformed songs by professional artists. The choral and voice records on CD and DVD series published during the last 22 years are essential aids for the congregations, choir masters, choirs and educational institutions.
In addition to the 300 singers ofthe United Reformed Choir of the Carpathian Basin we have always invited choirsfrom Sub-Carpathia, Transylvania, Northern and Southern Hungary. In the four blocs of the concert a well-known European organist and four choir masters assure the high-quality performance. At the beginning of each musical bloc the Word of God is read from the Bible; at the end of the concert the Lord’s Prayer is prayed and, holding our hands, we sing the national Anthem together; finally a bishop prays and blesses the congregation. The audience sings several times together with the choirs thus more than one thousand singers sing God’s rejoicing Word in the concert hall of the OPERA.
Solos and choir works of the mostwell-known reformed psalms and hymns will be performed at this concert.
Organ master: Gábor Szotyori Nagy
Choir masters: János Arany, BoglárkaBerkesi, Dániel Erdélyi, Péter Hoppál

Our offer
For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
János Hunyadi is responsible for the tolling of bells around the world; Mátyás Hunyadi is the hero of a string of folk tales; László Hunyadi inspired “only” an opera.
