A Diótörő meséjét – Csajkovszkij csodálatos balettja révén – mindenki ismeri. A gyermekek számára a prózai megfogalmazás talán könnyebben érthetővé válik. A történet Karácsony estéjén játszódik amikor is a testvérpár –Marika és Frici– izgatottan várják az ajándékokat. Legfőképp keresztapjuk meglepetésére kíváncsiak, hiszen ő minden évben valami különlegességgel kedveskedik nekik. Most sincs ez másképp… A Diótörő érkezik… A bábu a mese szabályai szerint életre kel és Marika képzeletében álmai Hercegévé válik… Megküzd az Egérkirállyal… majd a fináléban Ferdinánd személyében belép az ajtón.
